  • I participated in an exchange program in the spring of 2003, which brought together both Landscape Architects and Architects from both countries, to work together on a joint urban renewal project in Providence.

  • II participated in an exchange program in the autumn semester of 2000, which gave me further understanding of Landscape Architecture and related subjects, within a different country and culture.

  • 1998 - 2003                  Edinburgh College of Art - Heriot-Watt University

  • I graduated in July 2003 with an M.A. (Hons) Landscape Architecture. I’m proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2000/2002, Photoshop 6.5/7.0, PageMaker 7.0, and Microsoft Office utilities (Word, Excel.) My studies in the last year have included various elements of urban design, historic preservation, CAD and Photoshop work, and my thesis was titled, ‘A comparative study of regenerated landfill sites – Do different design approaches create the same set of values?’

    Employment History & Skills:

    Oct. ’04 - present         RC Gardening Services

  • This was something that I started myself, to learn a little more about running my own business.  It involved interpreting planting plans and designs, remodeling existing gardens, as well as general planting and garden/ landscape maintenance for both personal and business clients.

  • April '04 - Sept '04        Deichmann Planter

  • This is a Danish interiorscaping firm who specialize in the living interior of large offices in and around Copenhagen.  I was involved in the installation of many new projects, which involves choosing the appropriate planting, collecting and delivering the materials and interpreting drawings.

  • Aug. ’01 - Aug. ’02        Central Scotland Forest Trust

  • The Trust is involved in greening projects and ultimately the creation of an urban forest between the two cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, which are in lower central Scotland. Whilst working for the Trust I was involved in a variety of duties from landscape design to the contract management, and I also researched into new techniques and opportunities for urban greening.

  • July ’98 - Oct.’98           The Benefits Agency

  • I worked for their ‘Pensions and overseas benefits dept,’ which involved dealing with the public over the phone and working in an office as part of a team. I worked on various computer systems, and carried out a range of office duties such as data entry, filing, and problem solving.

  • Aug. ‘95 -Aug. ’97        Cottage Garden Nursery

  • I worked for this local nursery part-time. During my time there I carried out a range of duties, ranging from potting up, irrigation and pruning, through to dealing with customers and paperwork. This job gave me valuable experience in dealing with people and their horticultural problems.

    Interests & Achievements:

                                             Duke of Edinburgh scheme (Silver) – A combination of voluntary service, learning new skills, sports, and survival training.

                                           Voluntary work for English Heritage – working with the historical preservation of Tynemouth priory, Newcastle.

                                           Mountain biking and hiking, as much as time allows.

                                           An interest in Art, with a personal interest in oil painting and sketching.
